Local residents are invited to help protect Peak District trails as part of nationwide Autumn clean-up campaign organised by Trash Free Trails.
Matlock and surrounding area residents looking for a meaningful weekend activity this Saturday or Sunday (25-26th October) can join a community trail clean at nearby Sheffield’s Endcliffe Park – one of just 10 locations across the UK taking part in Trash Free Trails’ Autumn Trail Clean weekend.
The family and dog-friendly event, led by organiser Sarah-Jane and Bentley the “resident trash digger,” offers a chance to enjoy the outdoors whilst helping to protect the trails that connect our Peak District communities.
What to Expect
The gentle 4km loop around Endcliffe Park is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, taking around 90 minutes with rest stops included. Participants will help collect litter along the route, with all findings contributing to a Trash Survey to better understand the impact of waste on our green spaces.
Four-legged friends are especially welcome, with eco-friendly pet brand Beco providing complimentary goody bags for attending dogs.
Part of Something Bigger
This weekend’s clean is part of a nationwide effort, with volunteers from Shropshire to Norfolk rolling up their sleeves simultaneously. The initiative also includes a poster competition for local schools and young people, encouraging creative ways to promote environmental stewardship.
Join In
The group meets at Endcliffe Park Cafe (look for the Trash Free Trails A-board). The event is free but registration is recommended at: www.trashfreetrails.org/clean-trails/autumntrailclean
