Looking After the Places We Love – Have Your Say on the Countryside Code

Here in Matlock, with the glorious Peak District right on our doorstep, we’re blessed with some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country.
Whether you’re hiking across heather-clad hills, strolling along the River Derwent, or enjoying a picnic in one of our local parks, we all share a responsibility to look after these places so they can be enjoyed for generations to come.

That’s why we’re sharing news from Natural England about their 2025 Countryside Code Stakeholder Survey.
This is your chance to have a direct say in how we communicate and promote the Countryside Code – the set of simple, important guidelines that help everyone enjoy the outdoors responsibly.

Why This Matters

Back in 2021, feedback from this survey helped shape a refreshed Countryside Code and directed the campaign that followed.
Since then, there’s even been a Shaun the Sheep campaign to help younger audiences understand the importance of looking after the countryside – supported by over 55 organisations!

Survey Details

There’s also a Welsh version of the survey available if you need it.
